I’m interested on hearing about the frame-stiffener install too. I’ve been thinking about doing it too.

Hi Stuart,
I like the extra bling, I fell like it gives the car a finished look. The first kind that I used I got from Pep Boys and did not stay on very well. The new stuff form Trim Gard has worked out great and it has stayed on without any problems.Best,V. -

Hi Justin! Great to have you aboard. That looks a lot like mine, down to the chrome trim around the edges. Maybe we’ll see you in Carlisle this Spring.

Ken, being able to shoot from your driveway, ride your TDr or motorcycle 9 to 10 months a year and your closest neighbor hundreds of yards away sounds like my idea of heaven. 😆

I grew up in Anaheim, lived there and in San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Oceanside, Del Mar housing in Camp Pendleton and San Diego. Love California, miss In-N-Out Burgers like I can’t even explain and I get nostalgic for the old OC every now and then. The problem is that there are just too many people that want to live there. When the Co…[Read more]

I have always been fond of saying that no one hates winter like a man with a motorcycle in his garage. I’ve changed that statement to “a motorcycle or a TDr” but either way it’s the same. I can’t wait to get back way below the Mason-Dixon where winter won’t be such an issue anymore.

Hey John, you may want to do a google search for “Robs and Dave’s VW Repair”. They are a good web resource on all things VW. A lot of my VW Samba friends use their online advice for questions, and problems. I only use a local VW Dune Buggy shop here in Florida, as they rebuilt my engine for $1600, (just a long block rebuild) It sounds like after…[Read more]

I am in the process of replacing my interior, on my 1985 self built Classic Roadsters Dutchess. I have already completed the Convertible Top, using Marine Grade Tan Vinyl. Interesting enough, I got the plastic for the rear window, from Walmart Fabric Dept. it is a very heavy guage clear plastic. For the interior vinyl, I am using the same color…[Read more]

I just ordered the new Wind Wing Hardware, from Finish Line Auto Parts. They are the exact same as the hardware that came with my Classic Roadsters Duchess Kit, back in 1985. They are quite pricy though, about $56 including shipping from California to Florida, for a set of four hinges and fasteners. Now I have to get some Plexi Glass from Hm Depot…[Read more]

I second what Allison says about using a plastic zip tie. It was easy to install, then I lube the heck out of the shift rod and the bushing. Rob and Dave’s VW article about removing and repair on the shifter, always use the phrase of “Ramp up Right” when reinstalling the shifter plate. This has served me well upon my annual lubing up the shift rod…[Read more]

Hey Paul, try this link for the style of Wind Wing Hardware for our Classic Roadster Duchess.https://www.finishlineaccessories.com/p-328-wind-wings-hardware.aspxGood luck with this, I called and they did not return my message to them. It is very similar to what we have, and may have to be modified a little bit. Please let me know how it worked out…[Read more]
