Measure 5 times cut once.
Measure 5 times tack weld — measure again and complete your weld. I had a professional do the welding — you do not want that weld to fail when you hit a bump in the road.
I did all the before measuring in my garage and then cut off the old one then took it to the shop — the guy was great and let me have the use of…[Read more] -

Where is your module mounted? They have to be remote from the engine. They are an integrated circuit that is very heat sensitive. Cross a given temp and the are toast.
Try relocating the module. If it’s on the block, you have your answer. -

I had 2 filters on mine. One in the back close to the tank. Second one was a clear glass one (you know the ones with the replaceable filter inside, chrome fancy etc) between the fuel pump and the carb. This one would only last about a month and then start leaking. According to the mechanic at work, it’s not advisable to have a fuel filter on…[Read more]

I think the grin come with the cars. You just can’t be unhappy in one of these.
Out for a drive today saw a familar ft end in the rear view mirror, another TD. Pulled of and met a guy local here with a Migi. Told him about the forum, hope he joins, Ohio needs members. I think he said he bought a couple years ago un-running, found a NOS c…[Read more] -

Make mine an Almond Snickers…
Drifting futher
Bill, my wipers arms have a cap that just pulls off a slpine, well with a little rocking, pulling and yelling. The spline it self has 2 set screws holding it on the shaft and the wiper arm slips over the spline. Make sure you line the wiper up as you put it back on or your pulling it off again. -

Ok. Everything has been broken lose and is ready to lift off. The kids will be here tomorrow and we’ll get the body off. Then I’ll start on the pans.Since the kids couldn’t make it today I also started disconnecting the engine for removal. Pretty simple but I marked everything for reconnection anyway. Once I get something to set it in on I’ll…[Read more]

Nother thumbs down on the side curtains. But I like the solid wide-5 wheels with the nipple caps. The first few thousand TDs came through with no holes in the wheels.Nice car otherwise. Buyers have to know they’re looking at a swing axle car.
