I like the “take it to a machine shop” idea. If they quote it high you can always walk. They’ll know a bit more about the metal & what it’s likely to take than most of us will.

Paul: glad that ordeal is over.So now you have access to/possession of/ the Plymouth and the TD?Two weekends till Carlisle! And since Max’s Speedster is finally up & running, maybe there’s a chance you could pull some old NJ car clubbers into a full-on swap-a-thon & get your new 1776 installed and squared away in record time!

Heard from Bruce. He says they’re all set with the audio-visual equipment. So probably leave the PA at home.

You’re welcome to park your rig at my place. We’ll be leaving the house circa 10 a.m. on Sunday. So it should be an all-daylight day.Gonna pack a picnic basket. Or at least a plastic cooler….

Love to come – sounds like something I want to try, but not sure I will make it at this point.
It’s a long haul plus 60 miles then long haul back – I guess I could flat tow to your house. -

That car sits plenty high & shouldn’t rub. Thing to do is crawl under and adjust the steering stop bolts. You’ll lose a tiny bit of turning radius but save the fenders.Look on the steering box for a tab with a bolt that goes through and has a lock bolt. You should be able to find it. Make the side that contacts the steering arm just a bit…[Read more]

That’s Tommy’s ’52 MG, I believe. (It’s Tom & Ray, btw, not Bob). He’s wonderfully unstuffy about that car.

Having seen his car up close, I will second Dale’s suggestion.

That’s a good question, Roy. I’ll pass it on to the Speedster folks who arrange for a presentation at the Saturday dinner. They were looking for a spare video projector, but I think they have the PA thing worked out. Will check.

Schubie: This’ll be a bit of a haul for you. The starting point is about 6 miles north of my house in Joppa. They do want no more than 2 people in a car. But as for “navigator who knows what he or she is doing,” I don’t think it’s a requirement. Anyway, I’ve recruited my wife, who has no sense of direction. We’re thinking it’ll be a fun test of…[Read more]

Sounds cool Ed – you going? I will check and see how far from my house.Never done one of these – does it require a navigator who knows what they are doing?

George,Missing the fasteners is not that big a deal – when I rebuilt mine I replaced all the badly rusted bolts etc. ( came in the kit ) w/ stainless steel and nylon lock nuts – you will be glad you did. almost 5 years later and everything looks like new.Check you phone book or internet for local fastener places for bulk prices on SS stuff. Costs…[Read more]

Roy: you lose access to the cotter pins that hold the castle nut in place. They’re tightened just so, to leave a bit of play for the bearing. Without the pin, I think they’ll loosen up, or maybe tighten up. Either way, bad, and no way to get the cotter pin in or out through the hole in the middle of the spline. That said, the 4 x 100 ready-made…[Read more]

I’m a mac and a firefox (at home) and don’t have a photo upload problem. I’m actually running Camino on the Mac, which is a Firefox variant.mrlmd–try Camino? it’s a free download and hasn’t given me any trouble in several year’s use.

Mlrmd–re “won’t tires wear faster”?No. The lower pressure in the front is commensurate with the load on the tire–300, 350 lbs. Keeping them at 24 lbs or higher would make them wear faster in the center part of the tread. BTW, I tried to impart the same advice over on the MG forum. Those guys are mules. They’re shouting me down and saying 30-32…[Read more]

When I first assembled mine, I followed the instruction book.
As hard as I tried, I could not mahe the grill, side panels, hoodline up in any acceptable manner. Frustrated, I called the factory(Still in business at that time) and was informed that I should notfollow the manual. I was told to start the assembly at the back end.I thought he was… - Load More
