Update on calendar. The May, September and November shots are as follows. The rest is the same, plus there’s a cover shot. I ordered one & and working out a way to make it easy for anyone to grab one via the web & pay pal or a credit card. The site I’m using wants $25 to print and ship these. I’d like it cheaper and will look about for a cheaper…[Read more]

Nice work, Paul. Those with Macs should know to rotate the pages by holding the “butterfly” key (AKA “command”) and the letter R. If you select all the pages first, they’ll all turn at once, then you can save the file with them all oriented right like that.

I had the divot for the center grub screw right, but the ones on the ends were opposite what they needed to be (?) So I pulled the springs out, swapped them end for end and reinserted. Then the divots and grub screws lined up right everywhere. Logically, this made no sense to me either, but it worked. As for alignment. Hmm. I’ll for sure do it in…[Read more]

OK, everyone, Paul has sent me some sweet, big format shots of his car. I’m going to re-do a couple months because, when I put the first round shots into the calendar on line, I got a message on some of them that the photos were too low-resolution to print at that size. The message came on the May shot (Paul took that one, I’m in it), the…[Read more]

And the new beam is back together. Took some doing. Turns out you can put the springs in backwards. I did that on the top beam and discovered it only after putting the lower control arms on. The uppers wanted to face about 180 degrees away from the lowers. Had to pull the springs and turn them end-to-end. Anyone who has done this job knows it’s a…[Read more]

Keep looking for that chassis, they’re out there.BTW, anyone have any idea why a magneto would cost $1400? Seems a bit fat for–what is it?–100 year old technology? Seems like just like cake costs 5x normal price if it’s called “wedding cake,” parts cost 5x more if they’re “aircraft parts.”Or am I too cynical?

What’s the point? (get it?–nudge nudge) Go with a Pertronix & call it a “magneto” if you want. Normal automotive distributors’ll still run with no battery if your alternator/generator is turning. (ask me how I know). And if the generator quits you better pull over anyway since, unlike on an airplane, it usually means your fan isn’t turning &…[Read more]

Sorry, Paul. Best pic of the Duchess I found was like 173kbs. I tried to keep these shots above 300.The speedster folks insist on only high-res–like 2-3mb and above. Maybe next year?Meantime, if I don’t hear any objections by tomorrow I’m gonna go ahead and try to set up a buyable calendar on line. The price will be the website’s alone–no profit for me.

Thanks, Paul. I’m waiting until the 17th to book. There seems to be some thought that the end-of-year discount could apply to the SOC rate.

I went to the event in 2006 to get additional ideas for future modifications. As I approached Pennypacker Mansion event workers waved me into the show. I figured “what the hell”? and followed their lead. I registered, had the cars photo taken, and was ushered onto the display field and was parked in a line of factory TD’s. It took almost half an…[Read more]

Update: I am stupid. The new beam already has new bearings & etc. I hadn’t even took off the dust caps to look.Still need the shims though. If anyone wants a new set of urethane bushings I’ll sell them to you at cost. Otherwise, back they go.
