 When my Chevette powered f/f needed to be done the service writer also said it could not be done I went back and talked to an older tech he said give me that car he had it done ,,when got back not a trouble ever since that was 4 years ago . the only thing i can say is talk to the tech they know more than a service writer  GOOD LUCK  Dan.

 Odds are the current radiator is a chevette or for small engine.  a double core would be the best way to go. I would stay with the pressure cap for a 283 i do not know what the pressure requirement for 283 is, but ever who re cores the radiator should know, good luck ,Dan

 I have a thought,, kinda what you are thinking Roy fiber glass over A top masking it with shipping wrap it is thicker than than what you get at walmart and you can get fiber glass panels to keep it light ,or cloth and resin trying  on a piece of wrap first to see if it eats the wrap I don’t think it would good luck  BDriver and let us know   Dan

 If it not a normal crank case breather road draft vent it may be that it is not lower than the oil pan .. the second or really the first thing to look at is the valve cover gasket back then they were made of cork and they dried out no amount if tightening would stop oil leaking on the exhaust manifold  and burning off .  Allen  I don’t know about temperature ,,but I have had very good luck with using fiber glass screen as in [sliding screen door] as a back up for added structure strength . I have also used 5 minute epoxy many times out side when I have only a short time for curing . Dan
