  •  Thanks for sharing. It’s really sharp but waaaay out of reach for me.It’s good to know that some one is keeping the dream alive but those cars must be for the extremely dedicated or the very well off TD fan.

  •  Ed,I’ve been watching the storm coverage on the news but seeing it from your point of view puts it far more serious. Hope you are well stocked on the necessities.Makes me appreciate North Carolina for sure!! I keep looking at your post the other day about the ride around the block . You keep looking at it too and keep the memory alive.Looks like…[Read more]

  •  Ed, Thanks for the newspaper article. It’s interesting to hear how even women could put one together. Glad to see that you are putting your snowed in time to good use!Keep on digging, you get out soon!

  •  Richard, Is it possible that you have developed a short in the reverse light or it’s wiring? That might explain why you have fire  when it is disconnected. Larry

  •  Ed, Are the vents that were stopped up with tennis balls located on the center tunnel or along the outside edge of the floor? If they are on the outside edge ,I reckon this is another  special feature and a good one in my opinion.I had thought about trying to pipe some heat toward the front in my London Roadster ,but have never got arround to i…[Read more]

  •  Ed, I haven’t made up my mind for sure about going to the MG emblem and if I do make the change ,I had thought about making a dash plaque using the BCW emblem. I’ll let you know if I decide to replace it.As rare as our BCW’s are, it seems a shame not to identify it for what it is.

  •  Ringo, I ‘ve been watching a couple MG grille emblems on ebay thinking of removing the British Coach Works emblem . People keep getting up close to the front of the car to read the emblem because the letters are small and then they ask what kind of car is this.Any way it’s a good conversation starter.I guess the MG emblem would be one more step…[Read more]

  •  Looks like Will is building the foundation as he goes. That’s going to be a quality car when he gets done.I can’t wait for him to get back to the Chevette based car. I really enjoy his step by step pictures of his work.

  •  Paul, A high school classmate of my wife sent those pictures to us earlier this week. They are so real looking that it is almost unbelievable. Thanks for sharing them with the forum.

  •  Will, My VW based car uses the stock VW heating system with the flex pipes running under the seats and out thru a hole in the seat base.No heat is routed to the front of the car or to the defroster outlet. A blower is mounted on the firewall and is controled by a toggle switch on the dash ,I guess it is a defogger instead of a defroster. The…[Read more]

  •  Mike,  Thanks for the compliments. My understanding is that London Roadster bought Daytona MIGI kits and then assembled them on VW pans and titled them as London Roadsters. The vin # begin with the letters LCWL with the first two numbers indicating the year of the assembly.A few of these cars were built on a factory produced pan still using the V…[Read more]

  •  Perhaps I should stay out of this discussion as I have no bar experience and my badges are on the grille.OOPS too late!

  •  HI Mike and welcome to the forum. I have owned a London Roadster  VW based TD replica since 1994 and have never had any problems with overheating. My car has a chrome fan cover and the thermostat controlled fan intake is not used. To my knowledge all London Roadsters were factory built and most have the same engine set up.Check my photo gallery t…[Read more]

  •  Ed, Thanks for the BCW info. It is interesting how much one can find out about another in the hi tech age. I checked out the link and they produce some really nice hardtops. Shame they don’t make one to fit our TDs although the side curtains actually bug me more than the soft top.Good info and let us know if you get any response.

  •  I just checked and it actually sold for $9,000. WOW! Somebody should be very happy.

  •  Here’s a man who can have any car he wants and has some really expensive ones and yet he gets a special kind of enjoyment from the MG replica. He has found out what we already knew. Aren’t we blessed to have found out before we went broke trying to get the other stuff!

  •  Hi Ed, I’ve been watching this one too and am surprised that it has got to this amount. It looks really good but it must be some kind of nice to bring this much. It’s less than 100 miles from me and I had thought about going to see it but just cannot get away from home now. There are several comparable cars on ebay for about half of what this one…[Read more]

  •  Ed,  Is your hood molded in one piece or in two pieces which are joined together under the chrome strip? The Chevette based BCW uses a two piece hood that is hinged in the center, however the side panels are attached with bolts to the cowel, grille shell and fenders. Thanks for the info and pictures,I did not know that BCW used the VW hood l…[Read more]

  •  Ringo,Thanks for the quick response and the picture too.My BCW has the shock mounted to the rear side of the lower control arm with the top end connected to a bracket coming off the frame.CMC used a similar set up but the shock is on the front side of the suspension.Again may I say you have a great MG replica.

  •  Now I’m still curious. If the Classic Roadster cars used Chevette rearends, did the also use Chevette front suspension also? Is this how they managed to keep the wheels under the fenders without making the fenders wider?. All the front engine CR cars that I remember seeing had wire wheels so that may be the answer, whereas CMC front engine cars…[Read more]
