The easy e-brake fix is to V-cut the top just in front of the pivot, bend it vertical and weld it that way. Then it’s close enough to reach and you won’t be going nuts trying to fab something up. It will also look passably like a TC’s e-brake handle.

SUBY!!:-)
I see, reading earlier posts, that you’ve eliminated that as an option. Fair enough. Your cheapest and most reasonable option is a rebuild of the existing engine to near-stock spec. You could probably get it done for $1,000, or even less, depending on your skill. Or maybe $1500.I’ll say this though, then stop: The Suby 2.2 can be had out… -

Looks like a viable project to me. Bumpers, mirrors, door handles. Probably some gauges.
Does she run? Cuz if she doesn’t run, I recommend Subaru power. -

Schu’s dashboard is nice, and after 13 years he can brag.
Bridget’s earlier dash was also 1/4 or 3/8 inch thick. When I replaced it I made the new one thicker to take screws along the edges for the glovebox door and the metal trim. The original TD dash was about 1/2-inch thick; I ended up at about 5/8.I will again argue for Pelucid + Minwax… -

Brian! Thanks for posting. Many of us have admired those TD2000s for years, but never knew anyone who had one (the $50k sticker price kept most of us out of the running). Please stick around and tell of your adventures.

Progress on the Toyota, for any interested. I think this will be a much better fix than the typical DIY guy might make (with fiberglass mesh and Bondo). It’s all metal, held together with two full packages of JB Weld at 3960 PSI along a good bit of surface area.
I actually had fun shaping the remnants of my wrecked Nissan’s front fender to… -

That’s a good spot to look. They are apparently very common in Brazil. None on the Samba when I looked the other day but probably they come up from time to time. They should not cost a lot.

Yes. 4×130.

Brazilian VW rims, late model (circa 1991–see here). Cip1 had these–non chrome–on “clearance” for like 4 years for $49 per and I almost bought them a dozen times, but never did. Haven not seen them listed in quite a while, so maybe discontinued.
I think they look very cool & would go great on a TDr.edsnova2016-03-20 21:12:09

I think if you don’t have the sleeve (this part?) then you have an early style rig. You’ll want an early style pressure plate or, if you get a later one, also get this collar that goes over the “fingers.”
Most of the VW replacement clutch kits come with the collar assembly. You just remove it if you’ve got the later style box. If you don’t, of… -

Good info, guys. Never thought of this as I did the Soob Job. Now I’ll need to check and make sure the Subaru wiring incorporates this feature. I think it must, but I don’t know.

No offense taken and, of course, none meant. The market for these cars–as with many “classic and collectible” cars–is hard to know. Very few old cars can return a person any real cash on their investment, so the value is always about the fun you can have with it, and so it’s subjective.
Some guys count as “fun” the time they’re working on their… -

$3000 seems rich for that particular car, despite the low miles. $300 would be a good deal. $1,000 might even be justified if she’s a runner. But plan on spending thousands of dollars and as many hours to get her in shape.
