  • Just thinking here, but could this be an electrical problem rather than a fuel problem? Maybe as some componet heats up from engine heat it stops working. Does it have an old coil or condenser? Or an electronic distributor modual. Does it restart after a five or ten minute cool down? Im not saying its electrical over fuel, but anything is…[Read more]

I think your wheels look good Montie. I like your make do with whats on hand approach. I just discovered two of my wheels have a lot of pitting that someone had painted over. The other three will sandblast clean just fine. The two that are pitted are very rough and will never look good exposed. If I cant find two good used wheels local I will…[Read more]

Ed when I was in the title process for my car I sent them a photo. They must have liked it too because they didnt send the photo back with the paper work.

If you look at the flat cap just below the M you see a small dark area. That is all that shows of the empi emblem and it would be easy to live with if you go the flat style route. I think it was Newkitman that posted a link of a flat style with no logo, but when I downloaded their pdf catalouge it said the caps had logos. I emailed them twice with…[Read more]

I bought mine from MCS supply, but found this on Ebay Its for the kit of three 8oz bottles. Also has a description better than what i gave. There is also a Novus website that might answer any questions.

Great story Rockyx. I am with you and your reasoning. I wish I would have had a project like that with my Dad, but it never happend. Not complaining mind you, he wasnt a project guy and as a kid I was to busy doing my own thing. However you choose to go here, rebuild your chassis or find a new donor Im sure there will be hours of memories made .…[Read more]

Laughing mrlmd, I dont even like doing my own, but if you have faded gel coat give this stuff a try.

  • Mike replied to the topic New product in the forum General Discussion 14 years ago

    Allen,
I didnt have any scratches to try it on. The back had just become faded dull with no shine that I couldnt bring back with wax, polish or compound. I had used the McGuires Ultimate compound with some good results, but the Novus beat it hands down. If I were you I would start with the #3 and rub it down, then go to the #2 work both in with…[Read more]

Mark my title here in Arkansas lists my car as a “1985 Custom AV.” I think the AV stands for Antique Vehicle .There was no arguing with the DMV here about being built on a 74 beetle representing a 1952 MG TD. My insurance company describes it as “1985 MG 1952 MG Kit”. I think the insurance description comes closer. I think most state DMV offices…[Read more]

Paul I was suprised at how well the Novus works with just a little elbow grease. The motor cover and back of the fenders was where the dull faded was. I do suspect engine heat had something to do with it as the rest of the car looked good and the fading has occured in the 6 years I have had the car. You could feel the roughness of the fiberglass…[Read more]

  • Laughing with you Ed. Been there and done that myself many times with some fool on my back bumper trying to get a better look of my car.

  • Thats a good looking wheel Ed. It also looks like the electric TD has early model MGA tail lights. Something I was considering putting on my CMC. Gave me a chance to see what they looked like.

Man I love that radio. Spending too much money on other projects to buy it now, but someday  soon. Im saving the link to my favorites. I think I have the twin to Pauls 1982 classic in my car.

  • Thanks for reposting those photos Paul. I had seen the photos before, but did not notice they used the smoothies and the medallion like I was talking about. Notice the coil overs on the front to take the weight of the batteries. I have ordered 1 each of the smoothie and 1 of what is described as flat style. The flat style has the EMPI logo stamped…[Read more]

  • I think the medallion would look good on a smoothie. I agree that the convex surface will be more difficult to layout the center and drill. If I go the smoothie route I will clamp my spare tire to a mill table and indicate the center hole on the wheel. Then I can use the wheel as a fixture to quickly drill all five caps dead center. If I use the…[Read more]

The Speedo in my CMC is marked the same as yours Allen. Its kind of odd at first, but you will get used to it in no time. Once a friend rode with me for the first time with the wind beating us up and he looked at the speedo and thought I was doing about 75. He had a we need to slow down look in his eyes. I laughed and told him not to worry it was kph.

  • I just got my MG wheel medallions from Moss in today. They are as Paul described with a post that mounts with a cotter pin. These Moss parts really look good by the way. They are recessed between the edge and center post area which makes sense when you look at the MG caps like Paul posted the link to. Those caps have a flat outter rim and a convex…[Read more]

  • Mike replied to the topic CMC/FiberFab MiGi in the forum General Discussion 14 years ago

Many thanks Larry on the information. Everything you said confirms what I thought and my car is indeed a CMC/Fiberfab. The splash pan has the seam in the center and like Allen said about his car ,had the FF grill medallion until I changed it to an MG medallion. It does have the bullet front turn signals and the tail lights common on the CMC if…[Read more]

  • I agree with Ed.If you could pick it up for around $5500 I dont think it would be a bad deal. I like the British racing green and the interior looks great. I think its a CMC myself. I have been confused on the difference between a CMC and Fiberfab. The Fiberfabs used the vw turn signals and tail lights and called their TD replicas MIGI? I have…[Read more]
