Just look at the “check list” of info requested (the second post under the list) and Post a Reply with that info.

  • Rob,
My 1974 V6 has electronic ignition, although according to the manuals, it was not available until 1975. Mine is a KEM unit. Not sure if it is OEM or not. Supposedly, the big advantage (other than no more burned out points) was a hotter spark that improved performance using today’s (crappy) low octane gas. No problems with mine so far.

  • Sarge,
Check these out. They’re from a 2.9 liter Ranger V6 but I am quite sure theuy fit the 2.8L

  • Hey Geoff,
Wow! Sounds like you’ve been busy! I have done very little on mine since I put it on the road in early June. Tough to work on it when it’s going 70 miles an hour 3000 miles so far this summer.
    Thanks,

  • Hey Sarge,
Looks like you and I are the only “V-6ers” in the club! I had looked for some dress up covers a while back, but didn’t come up with anything. If I do find a source, be glad to pass it along.
By the way, I LOVE that little engine. Plenty of power, smooth, cool running. Also seems that the little extra weight up front eliminates the high…[Read more]

  • All,
Wow! You know math was never one of my best subjects, but as time has moved on I have developed a much better understanding and appreciation of it. Good to know I got the answer right. Take THAT elementary school math teacher, whoever you were!
Oh yeah, and just to be absolutely sure, we shoud all fill ’em up and run ’em till they’re empty…[Read more]

  • I’m surprised that I didn’t find this obit. Sorry we were a little too late, but the detective work was fun anyway. Check out this link to Laverne’s husband, “Tinker” Joe Martincic. This was a very interesting family!

  • Hi,
Just for the heck of it, I googled Laverne Martincic. Looks like the same lady, now a Real Estate agent in Ormond Fl (Right next to Holly Hills). There is a photo of her and she looks to be the right “vintage” to have run a company in 1976. Oh yeah, her middle initial is also “J.” Coincidence? I think not. Might be fun to contact h…[Read more]

  • Ringo,
Yup, gage went all the way to F. By the way, my wife still thinks E means “Enough”

  • All,
This was driving me nuts. My gage seems to work fine. It read just below 1/2 when I filled it a few minutes ago. It took 6.39 Gallons. That would put the capacity at around 12. So not leaving things to chance and applying a little math, I came up with the following:
My tank is 15″X20″X9.25″ which = 2775 Cubic Inches
    There are 1728 Cubic…[Read more]

    Ringo/Sarge,
Yeah, I recently experienced that “horn”. Went to take a left turn and left PLENTY of room cars to go around me on the right. But, some TD enthusiast in a big truck hit the air horn just as he came along side. Thought I might have to replace the driver’s seat!  It did get my attention though.

I actually responded directly to you on 7/8 under the topic Wind Wings.

  • Mel,
I LOVE the tonneau cover. I do not have a garage and I do not want to EVER put the top up. So, every night the cover goes on. If I were to design a new one, it would have a flap that would cover the zipper and be held in place by a velcro strip. The cover is water tight except for the zipper area. An alternative would be to can the zipper c…[Read more]

  • Hey Mel,
The car looks great!! I can tell you really are enjoying it just by the photos.
By the way, looks like your tail light lenses suffer from the same “fading” problem that mine did. I used some candy apple transparent paint on the inside and now they look like new. Very happy with the results and it’s held up very nicely so far.
    Hope you get…[Read more]

    Prologue,
Well, in spite of terrible weather (rain, rain and more rain) I have logged about 2200 miles since early June. This car runs great, plenty of power, very good handling. I’d like to give the brakes a work over but other than that, it’s much more fun to drive than I ever expected (and I expected a lot!).
Today I get to see if it runs as…[Read more]

    Lee,
My post is under TDReplicas and is called New Wind Wings. I have tried two different designs and made them myself out of Plexi-Glas.
No Wind Tunnel tests or anything that scientific. My impression is that they do change the side wind aero but not much. I think that the car was just not designed to minimize turbulance. In fact, I’d say that if…[Read more]

  • Mel,
I can picture the early morning ride. My favorite times are early AM and just before dark in the evening. It’s great to hear others comments. My wife still thinks I’m nuts (she could be right) because I enjoy just riding the back roads to nowwhere. Some people just don’t understand. Here’s to those who do!

  • Hi,
False advertising or not, I still like the look of the original MG emblem. By the way, FiberFab gave the buyer a choice of the FF or Original MG emblem when you bought a kit.
