Nice car! It was 62 degrees here yesterday, couldn’t resist going out. Still can’t get the grin off my face. I’ll put in my 2cents on the brake switch. Probably gummed like Larry says, but if the switch checks out, check the grounds.Ringo

Yeah, I’m thinking the blackwalls are the way to go. I’ll probably change them next summer. Now, back to my carb overhaul.Later,

The collage is a great tool, good job. Wheels make a statement that you don’t want to rush into. I’ll keep my Daytons, but my tires bug me.
I took some time to photoshop so I could decide. The current ones still have good tread. By the time I replace them I hope I’ve made a decision

Merry Christmas Montie!
Maybe the alignment guy has specs on a similar year Mustang II. If he does, I’d try that first. They are similar and the weight of the TD replica is close to the same as those ‘stangs.

Thanks all for the great links. I had googled flat dish in the past and never came up with that many. I may have to do some after Christmas shopping

Happy Holidays to all! Ringo -

James;
Just checked you dash photos.
That trim really looks 50’s. Kinda like the trim on a diner counter. Love it!
Nice set up of gauges and controls. Really like the map holder. Again, very vintage 50’s looking.
Oh! thanks much for the Santa logo!

The reason I re-did my steering wheel was that I couldn’t find a new one with a flat dish. Anything other than flat and I would have trouble getting in the car. (All this holiday food isn’t helping
)
Anyone found any wood rim flat dish wheels out there? My chrome is getting real thin.Ringo40170.7352546296 -

Don’t you love electrical problems?
Darn near every problem I’ve had with auto systems is due to a poor ground. I’ve learned to check my grounds first, then check my grounds second, then check my grounds third. THEN I look at the other wires.

Yeah, the larger one is the rear brakes. If you are pretty sure it’s leaking in the lines anywhere, go ahead and change out the lines. I’m flushing out the fluid in my system this weekend. With cars this old, if it’s leaking anywhere there’s a good chance it will start leaking in another spot due to corrosion from water contamination.…[Read more] -

Greg;
Any advice on the brackets? I sure would like to update my Ford throttle. Does yours attach to the manifold like the old one? If you have any, pictures would be great.
Thanks, Ringo

JWH,
Something to consider with a kit vs built.
Most of these cars and kits were made in the late ’70s to ’80s. Most were based on the easily obtained donor frames and drivetrains of the time, VW, Chevette, and Pinto. I don’t know about where you live, but around here I’ve only seen absolute rusted out hulks that would be a nightmare to bring up…[Read more] -

I had mentioned this to a friend who passed along his solution that works on most sites and many different situations. Join Flickr, (it’s part of Yahoo), its free, it’s very easy to use and lets me download or upload different sizes of my photos without having to change any thing. Once you upload your picture (any size) to the sight you can o…[Read more]

Well, just to add some controversy on such a fine day, I found this;
“Wire Wheels
Clearly the most controversial item that is faced in the restoration of many a MGTD. Were wire wheels available as a factory option or not? The truth is that they were not available during the production of the MGTD from the factory. The factory was constantly…[Read more] -

OctagonIf we’re trying for exact copy or reproduction, then forget wire wheels altogether. Real TDs didn’t have ’em! That’s what makes our cars a little more fun, setting them up the way we want them. Hmmm, I wonder what a set of Cragar SS’s would look like?
