Well, actually…http://www.lowescruise.com/True story: Emerging from the local Home Despot last year (carrying some little stainless bit I thought might work to fix something on Bridget) I come across a bloke peering into her cockpit. “I have one like this at home,” he tells me. “VW?”

Thanks for the sketch, Paul. That’s uber helpful.Doesn’t look as bad as I feared . . .Still not gonna do it though.

edward ericson replied to the topic Spare Tire Mount Vent Holes in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 2 months ago
Bridget has a loosely fitting cover under the wheel and tire. There’s a slot on one side but nowhere near a foot diameter hole. Seems to do fine that way. I don’t guess a single PICT 34 feeding single port heads is gonna need a lot of CFM.

I’m with Larry. I think the Jag is a few inches longer in the hood. Six cylinder, ya know. Don’t believe the spare could go on a TD like that and look “right.” Great on an SS 100 though! (Here’s maybe the one to get) (though I think I like the C-type even better).Allard too. Those are both too rich for my blood, though; I’m sticking with Bridget,…[Read more]

Update: beam is back in. Had to tie off the steering box and curl/press the assembled beam into place. Some of you know I’m a little guy and sit at a desk for a living & so this was not as much fun as I had hoped.
But, after a couple hours wrestling with it, there it is.

The problem then? Ball joint boots = NG. Can’t believe I didn’t notice I’d…[Read more] -

Welcome, Ray. You’ll find support here, and I’m pretty sure a couple Chevette-based owners are active. Post pictures and questions and have fun with your build.

Welcome Ford,
If you look below under finished cars and unfinished cars sections you will
see a few for sale. They can be easy to tow home if you are worried about a
long drive home. One of the cars is Chevy based so I am not sure that will
work for you. He HeGood luck on finding the right TD for you.

Guys,
Just a slight correction – I believe the 4 lug VW wheels are 4×130 MM
Be carefull out there -
edward ericson replied to the topic VW RIM Question in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 2 months ago
As for lugs or ears for a half moon (or stock TD) cap, looks to me like that would be a custom job, maybe manageable with some very careful measurements and sheet metal screws. But looks like it’d be tricky for a home mechanic to get that stuff centered just right. Then again, if the hump on the rim was just the right size, one might be able to fit…[Read more]

I suspect it was to give the bus lower gears.

edward ericson replied to the topic VW RIM Question in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 2 months ago
Those’d fit four-lug Beetles, ’68 through 79, Karman Ghias of the same vintage, etc. New ones like it are $50 each at CIP1. Not sure what, if any, hubcaps fit though. Cip1 suggests a center cap of some kind that covers the grease cap but not the wheel bolts.I think they’d be very cool if you could get a dog dish or half moon cap on ’em.

Dale: You
should be able to make your photo smaller by opening the picture in your photo
program and resaving it smaller, either by choosing a lower quality
jpeg format, resizing it by pixels (I like 300 by 400) or cropping it
and saving the cropped part under a new name. -
Dale Schumacher replied to the topic Seat Cushions in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 2 months ago
Well I guess my pic’s are to big to post – I will try to make them smaller when
I do the second seat unless anyone knows how to fix.
