Boy, we’re a motley bunch, huh?Meanwhile, over at the Speedster forum, they’ve been debating the merits of this $7k suspension setup versus this full A-arm chassis. Not many takers, but still, a very different vibe.I’m glad those guys let us hang around them.

@mikeeva, re the TF dash… Not sure where one would source those octagonal gauges, except through Abingdon. I bet that’s the holdup.

Thanks, Larry. Pretty sure it’s not the wheel. The body is not quite exactly centered on the pan. And it won’t skoot over any ’cause the steering box is already touching the radiator shroud. That seems to be the compromise made by the builder: you skoot the steering box a half inch outboard and you’re home… except then the steering wheel doesn’t…[Read more]

HAR!I was shocked to find my toe-in guess when I put the new tie rod ends
on was spot-on. She was an eighth toed in, according to my trusty
sticks, no adjustment needed……of the toe-in anyway. Looks like I somehow got positive camber on at least the driver’s side. Very hard to measure this using my iPhone level though… So I will be turning…[Read more] -

Thanks, Duck. Yeah, the “rust repair” is an embarrassment. I may have bought myself a year or two with it, but really what needs to happen–and I should’ve figured this out this before I bought the car–is the body’s got to come off the pan and the pan has to be re-done with new metal. Most everything up front there is questionable, at best, with…[Read more]

Back at it today, 4 p.m. Temp in the garage a balmy
40 degrees F. Decided it was time to do the tie rod ends:
Went surprisingly smoove. Here’s the driver’s side:
Original stuff, looks like, and plenny of play in them both, along with the torn boots. I measured the full length of it and then made the new one almost an eighth longer, on account of when…[Read more] -

SS 100s didn’t have tubes. Straight six would’ve required them all to be on one side. The Jag is also a two seater. Looks a lot like an elongated TD with (are they?) even bigger headlights. Here’s a Gazelle, with the requisite tubes.

Ed,
I will be going up on Thursday – we leave around lunch time from N-VA, but that may change a bit if we decide to tag along w/ others coming up from the south – otherwise Greg and I will just head up by ourselves. Thursday is a fun day as well – think about it. -

Haven’t plotted our route yet, Dale. Thinking I’ll be going up on Friday a.m. this time. Hotel Res is for Friday and Saturday. This is all assuming I’ve not ruined my car by then, of course.

I was thinking of trying for a TD-only dinner and/or Scotch tasting this summer at Stoney’s Pub, in Wilmington, DE.http://www.stoneyspub.com/That's about a two hour run for me, was hoping we could get a Jersey boy or two involved, and maybe even some of our NoVA friends.Stoney would get a kick out of it, for sure. He’s so Brit he burns Guy Fawkes…[Read more]

Welcome Duk – I have a lot of relatives out you way in Enid and close by – spent some fun times as a kid out there in the country.
Well – I say the guy on the other side of Stillwater owes you the title – the one he has goes w/ the tunnel that you have w/ your car. He needs the title from the tunnel that his body now rests on… imho
Not the most…[Read more] -
