Jake Raby MassIVe Type IV fits best.
Seriously, Lafers are VW Beetle based cars, just like our (VW-based) versions. What do you wish to achieve with a different engine? -

I had crud in mine and it quit while doing 45 mph. Then wouldn’t start until I replaced the filter. No trouble since.
Starting fluid notwithstanding, I wonder if it could be vapor locking? Maybe have a look at your fuel line and see if it’s getting close to anything hot.
BTW, the motor is running pretty cool, right? Not too hot to pull and handle…[Read more] -

Probably could be made to fit.
I’m trying to picture your trouble. You say you have the wheel off, yes? So you should be looking at the plastic doohickey that the stalk is attached to? -

while back Chuck wrote about replacing ours with one from a bus.said it eemed straight forward to replace the switch mechanism.

Thanks, Rich. You might be a hick if . . .you go hunting with no particular quarry in mind.you shield your eyebrows when lighting your smoking material from the bonfire. you stash your already-lit M-1000 in the fender well of a nearby pickup truck when the police cruiser shows up at your party, then casually try to act surprised when it blows up.…[Read more]

Thanks Dan. I heard most guys use boat hatch equipment. I’d like to see a photo of your rig.I actually found three sources for the wing bolt today, including Moss. But two sources (english parts.com and another to which I don’t have the link handy) want about $8 for the part and $12 to ship from the UK. Moss, which wants $9.45 for the part, won’t…[Read more]

Thanks, Paul. I’m very much hoping not to need a new engine any time soon, but I might like to tinker with one, just to reacquaint meself with the process. The 1641 needs, at most, a set of rebuilt heads–$300–yes? And as Karen agreed: these engines are small. So, maybe. Then again, I’m not in any rush & have a pretty full dance card,…[Read more]

Holy frijoles! Get a load of those Vintage Air prices! Driving fast never looked so cool.
Mid to high 90s (at least) all last week & threatening T-storms made for a couple sweaty runs & some serious A/C envy. But with 50 horses on tap, I believe if I hooked an A/C compresser up to Bridget she’d never get above second gear.
Upper 70s yesterday and…[Read more] -

I’ll be lookin to do the same when I go thru my gas tank. My guage never reads higher than 3/4. New float for sure-and maybe a TP spring as well.
Of couse, having a working gas guage does make the car less “authentic.” -
edward ericson replied to the topic Grill Badge – Price reduced in the forum General Discussion 15 years, 10 months ago
Mounted mine on the front plate, so I have extra badge bar clips; I’ll throw them in for whoever buys the badge if they want. Just send me the address & I’ll mail ’em to you.

edward ericson replied to the topic Duchess in need of wind wings in the forum General Discussion 15 years, 10 months ago
On ebay right now there are a whole pile of newly-listed windwing hinges, all of which look different to me. ebay, search “MG TD” and set the order to “newly listed” & they’re on the front page. Look to be from the same seller, “ocamg.”

Try a boat top maker. TD tops are more like Bimini tops than modern car convertible tops.

I’d vote “the stock tips.” But I know nothing. -

Nice TD. er MGA. er . . .
Did you talk to the owner? Did he tell you why he went with MG A running gear but a Toyota mill?
And sorry to hear about the Comet. Those are usually pretty reliable, and yours is practically new! - Load More
