All Webers and Dellorto are 2 bbl carbs. I supect you have the dual 40mm Solex carbs that are commonly called “Dual Kadrons”.
These carbs perform well on a stock or mildly warmed up VW Type 1 engine. They are easy to rebuild and tune. Much more low end torque than the single carb Weber/Holley progressive 2 bbl.
Stock dual port heads make more low…[Read more] -

Thanks Dan…looks like we have the people listed in the poll that don’t have the Pink MG voting on who they think does have it?
Does that make sense?

Call or e-mail Esslinger’s or Racer Walsh…they’ll know for sure.
I suspect it was for some sort of oil line that went to the turbo charger on the 2.3L Fox body Mustangs and T-Bird Super Coupe. -

Hey Bailey,
I’m going to bust your buns…No malice intended. Wind is something you live with in these cars…it’s half the fun of driving them!
The wind wings just rearrange the air a little. I always thought that they were mostly for looks.
The Porsche Boxster and Mercedes crowd use those screens that pop up behind the seats. We’re the TD…[Read more] -

Bgayler…I’m a Streetrodder too (1940 Ford Tudor Sedan). Pics in my gallery.
I put 4 wheel discs on the VW based TD now owned by Bill Collins when I refurbed it. The stock master cylinder worked OK, there is not a lot of weight to stop.
However a few years ago, VW Trends ran an article on how to modify and mount a Vanagon master cylinder…[Read more] -
Mark Hendrickson replied to the topic Anyone seen one of these? in the forum General Discussion 16 years, 7 months ago
No, I’ve never seen one in person and from the starting bid…looks like I’l never own one either!
It looks like a middle aged TD…a little stout around the middle! -

Paul is right…INCREDIBLY good looking

Tha hose Paul described it the filtered intake for the crankcase ventalation system. The hose I am talkng about is from the PCV valve itself (mounted in the valve cover) to a port on the carb base or intake manifold. This collapses if it’s old and soft (unlike Paul and I) from the direct vacuum port it’s…[Read more] -

Great news Geoff…You’ve been waiting a long time.
Changing the fuel washed oil was a great idea. Dump about 16 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil in about 500 miles before you change it again. this will help free up stuff gummed up inside. Do that a couple of times for the next two oil changes.
Be sure the PCV hose is not collapsed either. It will c…[Read more] -

You have to watch these eBay auctions. They have there friends bid the car up to just below the reserve hoping that they’ll draw someone into bidding the reserve or higher.

That car appeared really nice, but I’ll bet that’s who the bidders mostly were on this one.
eBay was great when there were no reserves and the bidding started at $1.00. -

Man it’s scary how alike we are…almost all eligible for Social Security and now recalling days when we could fit in British sports cars…let alone jump out of one while it was moving!
My first car was a ’59 Beetle that I paid $40 for. The 36hp engine was seized. I bought a rebuild kit that included the bearings, gaskets and a set of barrels…[Read more] -

Jennifer,
Take the part of the dipstick tube that sticks into the block and gnarl it up with a sharp pair of wire cutters. Put a few gouges and notches in it and it should press or tap right back in and stay put. Then re-insert the dipstick.
Another way is to take a tapered center punch and tap it into the block end of the dipstick tube to stretch…[Read more] -

Dick,
I’d been to Sacramento Army Depot, then McClellan Air Logistics Center many times until they both closed. SAAD was first and most of their workload went to McClellan and Tobyhanna Army Depot in the Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains.
These places repair the equipment that we here at Communcations Electronic Command (CECOM) logistically manage. I…[Read more] -

When you post a reply, there are ICONS to the right of the Font Size drop-down. The second from the right is the Image Upload ICON.
You should be able to click on that and then browse your computor’s files for the pictures (jpg’s) that you want to upload.

If it’s the engine, not a weak starter or battery, you probably “dropped” a valve(s). A cam bearing would not seize these motors. It would knock and be loud, but not seize the engine. Timing belts snap because they are old or a bad or improperly adjusted tensioner wore it out prematurely. They would not snap if the crank or cam seized.
The cam t…[Read more] -

We’ve been filing all types of appeals to everyone, including our new President. This base closure was all political to begin with. However, it looks like a lost cause, even though the Pentagon never followed through with a BRAC Commission required impact to readiness statement.
